Photocatalytic mineralization of textile dyes
Advantages / Salient Technical Features
• As such no technologies are available for dye water
treatment. But, before discharging, respective
industries treat the water either by chemical or
biological route to decolorize the waste water. That
creates a secondary harmful effect. Our process will
utilize solar light (Which is free and plenty) in presence
of a photocatalyst (cost effective)to mineralize the
waste to CO2 and water. This is a eco-friendly process.
Additionally, we can reutilize the water.
Problem being addressed
• Textile industries are the 2nd largest growing
industries in INDIA which produce a gallon of waste
water and these are being discharged in the nearest
river or water streams. The chemical contaminates
pollute the surface as well as the ground water. This
in turn has a harmful impact not only to the aquatic
animals but to the whole ecosystem. Many textile
industries use the biological or chemical route to
decolorize the dye waste before discharging to water
streams. These are called the secondary waste which
creates more harmful effect than the primary one. In
view of this, IMMT has developed the technology for • Title: Carbon quantum dot based LDH
dye mineralization under solar/ visible light, which nano composites for photocatalytic dye
can efficiently reduce the pollution created by the mineralization Under process
dye industries.
Application/Uses
Environmental Considerations (if any) • Textile industries It can be utilized in ink
• The process is environmental friendly process industries
