Low Ash Coal Production for Utilization in Metallurgical Industries

Advantages / Salient Technical Features Scale of Development
            • It is easily possible to achieve 10% ash coal with • Lab validation (Current TRL Level : 05)
reasonable yield with feed ash less than 30%.
            • Can be utilized in Blast furnace injection / DRI and Commercialization Status
other metallurgical purpose ROI within 3 years. • Ready for commercialization

            Problem being addressed Technology Package
            • Beneficiation of low grade coal for utilization in the • Commercial process flowsheet
               metallurgical industries.

            Environmental Considerations (if any)
            • Environment Friendly

Major Raw Materials to be Utilized
            • Low ash coal, coking coal, non-coking coal

            IPR Status / Details (India/Abroad)
            • NA

            Application/Uses

            • Can help in recovering carbon value from high ash
Indian coking and non-coking coal rejects/fines/
               slimes
            • The quality of the coal indicates that it can be used
for metallurgical purposes even in blast furnace
               injections.
            • The carbon value can be recovered from coal washery
slimes by flotation process to achieve less than 10%
               ash coal.
